Terms of Service

Last updated: July 24, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Household Cadence (the "Service"), operated by its founder ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you register, and let us know right away (via Contact Us) if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication, available from your Account settings.

3. The Service

Household Cadence is a household-management tool: recipes, meal planning, shopping lists, a pantry tracker, cleaning checklists, to-do lists, a shared calendar, a household budget/expense tracker, home inventory tracking, and tools for sharing any of the above with people in your household or Family Group. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

4. Free trial and subscriptions

Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial — no payment method is required to begin. After the trial ends, continued access requires a paid subscription:

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, billed monthly or annually as you select, and automatically renew until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from the Billing Portal in your Account settings — your access continues through the end of the period you've already paid for, and we do not refund or prorate the unused portion of a cancelled period. Switching between plans is prorated on your next invoice. Prices are shown exclusive of applicable sales tax, which is calculated at checkout based on your billing address and may change if we update our pricing (we'll give notice of any price change before it applies to your next billing cycle).

Family plans. A Family subscription covers everyone in one household, and any member of that household can be the one who pays for it. Because a Family plan covers the whole household through a single subscription, if that subscription lapses — for example, the person paying leaves or their payment fails — every member of the household loses paid access until someone renews or takes over billing. This is standard for shared subscriptions. Any member can restore access for everyone by starting a plan for the household from the Plans page; whoever subscribes first covers the household.

If your subscription lapses, your account and data are not deleted — you simply won't be able to access most features until you subscribe again. Note, however, that accounts that remain both unsubscribed and inactive for an extended period are eventually deleted for inactivity, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Sharing and households

Content you create is private by default. You choose what to share, with whom, and sharing only ever grants viewing access — the person you share with cannot edit or delete your original. If you choose to mark a recipe public, it becomes visible to anyone in the Community Cookbook; this is permanent by design and cannot be undone once confirmed, so we show you a clear warning first. You're responsible for what you choose to share and with whom.

6. Your content

You own the recipes, lists, photos, and other content you create or upload to the Service ("Your Content"). By uploading Your Content, you grant us a limited license to store, display, process, and back up Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and anyone you've chosen to share it with. We don't claim ownership of Your Content, and we don't use it for anything beyond running the Service (see our Privacy Policy).

You're responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the right to upload it and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights or violate the law.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

8. Allergen and dietary information — important disclaimer

The allergen/dietary tagging feature is a convenience tool built from information you and other users provide about yourselves and your recipes. It is not a guarantee of ingredient safety and is not medical or dietary advice. We do not independently verify ingredient lists, and the feature can only warn you about conflicts based on the data entered into it. You are solely responsible for verifying that any recipe or ingredient is safe for you or anyone you're preparing food for, especially in the case of serious or life-threatening allergies. Never rely on this feature as your only safeguard against an allergic reaction.

9. Third-party services

The Service uses Stripe for payment processing and the USDA FoodData Central database for nutrition lookups. Your use of payment features is also subject to Stripe's own terms. We don't control and aren't responsible for the accuracy of third-party nutrition data.

10. Intellectual property

The Household Cadence name, branding, and the design and code of the Service (excluding Your Content) belong to us. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without permission.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your Account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, and we'll do our best to give you notice and a chance to resolve the issue first, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the Service or other users. In addition, as described in Section 4 and in our Privacy Policy, accounts that stay both unsubscribed and inactive for 90 days are deleted for inactivity after advance email notice.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Household Cadence will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kansas, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Contact us
